U.S. Immigration: Detrimental or Beneficial?

Why American Cities Need Immigration?

There are many reasons as to why cities prosper and decline, but one of the key elements is how much fresh labor supply a city is getting, in other words its rate of immigration. As our older generation retires, the need for healthcare workers increases. A booming city is sometimes associated with a striving healthcare industry. Working in healthcare is one of the top professions for immigrants, therefore immigrants are vital to the health of a city, literally and metaphorically. Immigrants are also a lot more likely to create small businesses than the native-born population. By creating unique and culturally diverse small businesses, immigrants help make our cities more vibrant and more desirable to live in.

Former U.S. Presidents on Illegal Immigration and the Southern Border

Many people seem to think that only liberals and Democrats have advocated for immigration and open borders, but this is far from the truth. Former Republican Presidents such as Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush have staunchly advocated for the freedom of movement between the United States and Mexico. Below is a video of Reagan and Bush explaining their stances on undocumented immigration during a presidential debate. Skip to 2:05 for Reagan's stance on immigration.
